Campers
Through exposure to sheet metal, piping and plumbing trades, HMSE students explore the trades and become part of a team that builds community. But first, you “suit up” just like the industry pros! Before your first day at camp, you’ll be outfitted with a new pair of work boots, courtesy of a Red Wing voucher. You’ll also get a new DeWALT or Milwaukee tool bag and tools that you’ll be able to take home, even after your program is over.
Every camp is unique, but all are built to offer hands-on learning through projects and working alongside craft professionals. You’ll tour active jobsites and union training facilities for a glimpse at local apprenticeship programs to see first-hand what it takes to succeed. Our goal is to show you all the different ways you can become involved in the trades — and pursue a rewarding, high-paying career with job security and no student debt.
Once your camp is over, you can apply* for an apprenticeship program with one of the local unions in your area!
*Requirements vary. Check with your host site or HMSE coordinator.
